Individuals & Not-For-Profit Organisations Making Applications

Applications must meet at least 1 of our 4 charitable objects. These are:
- The advancement of education
- The advancement of religion
- The advancement of citizenship and the community
- The advancement of environmental protection or improvement
Stage 1. Initial Applications for funding support is by letter or email to the executive officer, giving a broad outline of the aims and nature of the project, the size of the funding request and information about other organisations you intend to approach for funding.
Stage 2. The Executive Officer will request any further information that is necessary in order to put the application before the Trustees. This might include precise information about how the funding provided by the Trust will be utilised i.e. to rent workshop space or buy materials. In the interests of financial probity we would also normally request that payment is made to a 'not-for-profit' or charitable organisation or to a bank account set up specifically for the management of a project, rather than to an individual.
Stage 3. Trustees approve the funding request, sometimes with provisos. In the case of individuals wishing to work with children or young people or vulnerable adults, for example, we would normally request evidence of relevant experience and CRB clearance.
Typically funding grants for larger projects are in the region of £500 for a 'one-off' grant. In some instances, where projects aim to be self-supporting, Trustees will agree to underwrite a proportion of the risk.
Stage 4. Accountability. Once funding has been awarded the Glastonbury Trust will normally request evidence of expediture at the appropriate time and a brief report for our Quarterly Newsletter, Report to Trustees, or Annual Report. This applies particularly when donations are made to individuals or small groups not set up as 'Not-for-Profit' of charities.
